Have you heard about the book ‘Lean In’ but still have no idea what it, who it’s by and what it’s all about? Is it an almanac on hip hop dance moves? Perhaps it’s a manual on how to show you’re listening to other people? Or maybe, just maybe, it is one of the most influential books of our time. If you’ve ever heard of Lean In and want to know what it is, who wrote it, what you can learn from it, and much more, then you’ve come to the right place. Here is everything you need to know about ‘Lean In‘.
Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead
That’s the full title of the book, which was written in 2013 by Sheryl Sandburg. Don’t know who she is? Don’t worry, we’ll get to that soon. The book, however, came in response to a TEDTalk that Sheryl did in 2010, about the ways women are held back; along with how women can sometimes hold themselves back. Sheryl received an incredible response to the talk, being sent hundreds of personal stories from other women. Sheryl decided she would write a book containing her own personal stories, offer practical advice for women, and use research to shine a light on the differences between genders. The book itself is a hefty read, but it’s something that can be picked up whenever you please. The author wants to challenge the world in order to change the conversation. ‘Lean In’ wants to stop women from focusing on what they can’t do, and instead, start emphasizing what they can do. Sheryl clearly wants a more equal world, and the chapters in her book highlight the areas of our lives that need more attention. The book has since inspired a Graduates version, for the next generation of women.
